I was never going to post a stuffing recipe like this one; as it is so basic. However, I was writing up the recipe for my ‘bacon’ wrapped roast with sage and apple stuffing, last year and I felt like it would be easier to have a separate page for this recipe, since the roast post was already quite long. This sage and apple stuffing is so easy, but as it is a moist stuffing it’s perfect for making stuffing balls and covering a roast.
Ingredients
- 1 Loaf of Fresh Crusty White Bread
- 2 White Onions
- 1 Jar of Dry Sage (8-10 Tbsp)
- 150g Apple Sauce
- 1 Tsp Sea Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
NB: You should buy the bread a week before you plan to make the stuffing, as stale bread is best for stuffing recipes.
Directions
Pre-heat a pan with butter on a medium heat and sauté the finely chopped onions until soft.
Chop the bread up into smaller chunks and process it in a blender until you have breadcrumbs
Now add the breadcrumbs into a bowl with the remaining ingredients. Stir them thoroughly.
Leave the stuffing in a covered bowl until you plan to use it. This will help it dry out.
